Jehoshua is on the throne of David in New Jerusalem and He is the King of a New Israel
What is the gospel? This is a vitally important question that we must get right. Paul the apostle warns against those who bring another gospel and another "Jehoshua". Part 1 of my study!
Galatians 1;6-8 (KJV) 6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. This is a stern warning from the apostle Paul about anyone bringing a different gospel than the one he and other teachers of the faith brought to the saints. With this in mind, it behooves us to make sure we are preaching the true gospel of Jehoshua Messiah. The word "gospel" comes from the Greek word "euaggelion, (stongs 2098) and means " a good message, gospel". John the beloved disciple echoes a similar warning in 2 John: 9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. John warns of those false teachers that abide not in the doctrine of Jehoshua and he commands believers not even to bless these enemies of the faith or give them audience. This is a far cry from modern Christendom that teaches it's unloving to call out and mark false teachers. This is why modern Christendom has become a hodge podge of variant teachings because the mainstream Church has lost sight of the true gospel and has called aspects of the gospel as non essential to understand. This creates a tolerance for false gospels and false teachers. Jehoshua's doctrine is the very practice and truth of Kingdom living. Doctrine means instruction. Doctrine is the instructional way of life for Kingdom living. The gospel is called the gospel of the Kingdom. You cannot seperate doctrine from the gospel, they go hand in hand. So in 2 John, what in context of this chapter is the beloved disciple of the Lord referencing in regards to the doctrine of Jehoshua? Namely, three things: 1) the Sonship of Jehoshua (verse 3) 2) the commandments of God (verses 4-6) 3) the full humanity of Jehoshua (verse 7) The above three truths are essential to apostolic doctrine and hence essential to the gospel of the Kingdom. To veer off any of the three makes one a transgressor and preacher of a false gospel. These three truths must be preserved in terms of preaching the right gospel. John the beloved is adamant about this so much so that he says not even to greet those who teach otherwise and he even calls them antichrist. So with this being understood, in that preaching the right gospel is of paramount importance, let's search the scriptures and find out what is the true gospel of Jehoshua Messiah. In order to avoid a super lengthy study, we will start from the new testament and start from the beginning i.e. the birth of Jehoshua. Mark 1:1 (KJV) 1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; We see here in Mark that Jehoshua has ownership of the gospel, it is His gospel. We also see already that the gospel is rooted in His identity as the Son of God. Beware of pastors, theologians and teachers that try to obscure the true Sonship of Messiah and that His identity is anything other than being God's only begotten Son. There is a lying gospel today that seeks to obscure the Sonship of Messiah and teach that instead of being God's Son that He is actually God Himself as part of a trinity god. This fits right in what John talks about in 2 John that Jehoshua is the Son of the Father and that not to abide in this doctrine is antimessiah and thereby the promoter of such a false doctrine has neither the Father or The Son. John echoes these semtiments in 1 John 2;18-26. 1 John 2:18-26 (KJV) 18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.25And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.26These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. John said that even though there was an "antichrist" to come that there were already many antichrists around in his time. In verse 21, John says something very revealing which many modern beleivers ignore. John says that no lie is of the truth. So even if a certain teaching of doctrine has mostly truth, if it is laced with even a little falsity or lie then that doctrine is not truth no matter how the small the lie is that is in that doctrine. This flies in the face of many professors of Messiah who say that the truth of the Godhead is a distraction or that it doesn't matter and is not an essential of the faith. What did John consider a doctrine of ANTI-MESSIAH? 1) denying that Jehoshua is the Messiah (anointed) of God 2) Denying the true Sonship of Messiah thereby denying the literal Father-Son relationship between Jehovah and Jehoshua. Denying Jehoshua as the Son of God in identity is antimessiah. This could either be by denying His begotten Sonship due to the miracle in Bethlehem or by perverting the true identity of Jehoshua by turning Him into something other than the Son of God in identity and making Him the Almighty God or part of a trinity god. 3) Also noteworthy is a denial of the Father is also anti Messiah. Many today are guilty of this as many beleivers have all but pushed the Father aside and only talk about the Son and focus their worship on the Son only. The same is also true for those who deny the Son and try to go to the Father without going through His Son. In verse 24 of 1 John 2, the beloved disciple exhorts the brethren to let the truth that was from the beginning abide (remain) in them. This truth he speaks of is the same truth that was from the beginning of Jehoshua's ministry. What was the foundational truth that Jehoshua said the Church would be built upon? Matthew 16:15-19 (KJV) 15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Jehoshua blessed Peter's confession of who He (Jehoshua) is in identity. Peter confessed that Jehoshua is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Jehoshua told Peter that the Father revealed this truth to him and not flesh and blood. Jehoshua told Peter that this was the rock (Peter's confession of Jehoshua's Sonship and Messiahship) that the Church would be built upon and that would endure to the end. Jehoshua said that it was this Church (based on Jehoshua's Sonship and Messiahship) that alone possess the keys to the Kingdom to have authority to loose and bind. This then disqualifies any Church that perverts the identity of the Messiah into anything other than being the Son of God. This of course includes much of Christendom which teaches that Jehoshua is God Almighty Himself who only took on the role of Son. So the truth from the beginning that John is speaking of in 1 John 2:24 is the same as Peter's confession of Jehoshua's Sonship and Messiahship. If this truth remains in us then we will continue to have fellowship with the Father and Son. This should concern those of the trinitarian faith along with other Godhead teachings that deny the true Sonship of Jehoshua. In verse 25, John mentions the promise of eternal life based on us keeping the truth of the Sonship and Messiahship of Jehoshua in us. Also, keeping the truth that God is the real Father of Jehoshua (verse 22). This mirrors what Jehoshua Himself said in John 17:3: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" According to Jehoshua, eternal life is based on knowing that the Father is the only true God and Jehoshua was Himself sent by the one true God. This statement is a clear refutation of the trinity doctrine. This truth of the Father being the only true God is essential to the gospel. Belief in the begotten Sonship of Jehoshua is also a requirement for eternal life and essential to the gospel as we read in John 3:16-18: 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. The begotten Sonship of Jehoshua is the key to having eternal life and denial of it is the key to eternal death. Acknowledging the Father-Son relationship as a very real thing is central to the gospel. This means that Jehoshua's identity is in being God's only begotten Son and that God is the literal Father of Jehoshua due to being begotten in the womb by the power of the Father's Holy Spirit. To make Jehoshua God Almighty Himself robs both the Father and Son of their true identities and obscures and makes of none effect their true relationship to each other. Infact, John the beloved calls this antimessiah. In verse 26 of 1 John chapter 2, a very revealing statement is made by John. He says that he is writing these very things, concerning the true Sonship of Jehoshua and the Fatherhood of God, so that the Church can be on guard against seducers. John does not want the brethren to be seduced by anyone who would teach that Jehoshua truly isn't God's Son in identity and that God isnt the true Father of Jehoshua in identity. We must ask ourself, would John warn against today's mainstream Churches that teach that Jehoshua only took on the role of Son in the plan of salvation? Absolutely he would because for John, Jehoshua was truly the Son of God in identity and to teach otherwise was antimessiah. Today's churches all but ignore the Sonship of Messiah and promote that He is the Almighty God and the second member of a triune god. Yet for John, the Father alone was God in the senseof being the Almighty. 1 John 5:20-21 (KJV) 20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.21Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. John says here that Jehoshua the Son of God came to give us an understanding of God and to know God. Obviously for John, it is God the Father that is true as he then says that we are in Him (God) that is true and then makes a distinction by saying that we are in the One that is true's Son Jehoshua Messiah. So clearly, John makes a distinction between the one that is true and Jehoshua Messiah and that Jehoshua is the one that is true's Son. He follows by saying that this is the true God (the Father)and eternal life mirroring what Jehoshua said in John 17:3. We know that from the context John is identifying the true God as the Father because in the context of this passage he is identifying the Father as the one that is true and identifying Jehoshua as the one that is true's Son who came to give us an understanding of the one that is true. Obviously, Jehoshua came to reveal the Father hence the Father is the one that is true and hence the true God. John 1:18 (KJV) 18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Jehoshua who is in intimate relationship with the Father perfectly revealed Him to the people he came in contact with. The word "declared" comes from the Greek word "exegeomai" (strongs 1834) and means "to consider out (aloud), i.e. rehearse, unfold, declare. Jehoshua perfectly revealed the Father's character to the world. Having a proper understanding of who God is and who Jehoshua is in identity is essential in terms of preaching a biblical gospel. For example, towards the end of John's gospel account he says this: John 20:31 (KJV) 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The whole purpose of John's account of the gospel is for us to understand and believe that Jehoshua is the Messiah of Jehovah God and the Son of Jehovah God. Unfortunately, most of Christendom has all but disregarded John's exhortation for his readers to believe the truth of Jehoshua's Sonship. Now that we have set the foundation for the gospel, which is the truth of the Sonship and Messiahship of Jehoshua and the Fatherhood of God and of the Father being the only true God, let's dig a little further into what is the gospel. We will start from the birth narrative of Jehoshua in Luke chapter 1: 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.31And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JEHOSHUA.32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:33and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.34And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God. Many Christian's when preaching or teaching on the birth of Jehoshua leave out the vitally important fulfillment of the propechy made to king David by Jehovah God. We have already established the true begotten Sonship of Jehoshua as revealed in verses 31, 32 and 35 where clearly the angel tells Mary that Jehoshua will be begotten in her by the power of God the Father hence Jehoshua is the only (uniquely) begotten Son of God. Most Christian's focus primarily on this aspect of Jehoshua's miraculous birth however we see in this passage of scripture the promise that was made to David beginning to be fufilled. In verse 32, we are told that Jehoshua will be great and receive the throne of His Father David and that He will reign over the House of Israel (the Church) and that His Kingdom will never end. Of course, He will not only reign over the house of Israel but also rule over all the nations of the earth. The first part of Jehoshua's ministry was to be the Savior of man however that was only part of His ministry and unfortunately most of Christendom has stopped at that. The deeper aspect of Jehoshua's ministry is to be the promised everlasting King of Israel and to be the ruler over the coming Kingdom of Jehovah. Let's go the prophecy made By Jehovah to David through the prophetic ministry of Nathan: 2 Samuel 7:12-17 (ASV) 12When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.13He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.14I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;15but my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.16And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David. David is told by Jehovah God that after he dies (sleeps), that out of his bowels (seed of the flesh, family descent) will be a Man who will be set up by Jehovah to be the King and this King will be established forever on the throne. In verse 13, David is told the same thing as prophesied by Zechariah (ch. 6) in that Jehoshua will build the temple of Jehovah God hence build a House for Jehovah's name. In verse 14, Jehovah then declares that He will be this promised King's Father. It's important to understand that the anointed kings of Israel most notably Saul, David and Solomon were considered to be God's firstborn (chosen, preeminent) son's. The same is true if Jehoshua except in a more amplified way due to Jehoshua being begotten by Jehovah in the womb of Mary. So Jehoshua is not only God's Son due to His being the anointed King of Israel but also due to His virginal begetting in the womb of Mary. Everything that was true of David and Solomon in regards to them being god's i.e. elohim (kings), being Messiah's and being GOD's son's is fully amplified and fulfilled in Jehoshua in a way that far exceeds Saul, David and Solomon combined. In verse 14 we see that it was indeed possible for Jehoshua to commit sin however He didn't. In verse 15 Jehovah says that either way His loving kindness would not depart from Jehoshua. In verse 16, David is promised that his house, kingdom and throne would be established forever. This was fulfilled at Jehoshua's first advent and most notably His resurrection and ascension to heaven. Back to Luke chapter 1, so Jehoshua's was a sign to Israel that God was with them as Jehoshua was the fulfillment of the prophecy made to king David. Jehoshua was to be Israel's consolation (comfort). This is why Mary praised Jehovah so joyfully because she realized the magnitude of what was about to take place. The magnitude of the Jehoshua's birth was not only for the salvation of men from their sins but the realization that they had finally been given their long awaited anointed King who would restore the Kingdom to Israel. Luke 1:46-55 (KJV) 46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.48For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.50And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.51He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.52He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.53He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.54He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;55As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. Mary's praise to Jehovah God is beautiful and captures what the birth of Messiah meant to her and the nation of Israel (verse 54). So we see that the foundation of the gospel is in the Sonship, Messiahship and Kingship of Jehoshua and of course the Father being the only true God who begat Jehoshua in the womb of Mary. We also see that the establishment of Jehoshua being King and His Kingdom being established forever are crucial elements of the gospel truth. Included in this of course is Jehoshua sitting on the throne of David which is the throne of Jehovah God. Also, Jehoshua's throne, Kingship and Kingdom are central in relation to Israel as Mary herself said that Jehoshua's birth was a holpen to Israel. "Holpen" means "succour, support, help, to take hold in turn, partaker, also to participate". Notice that in Jehoshua Mary saw a support and helper for Israel. We must always keep this in mind in terms of what the gospel is. Luke 2:11 (KJV) 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. The sheperds in the field were told the above by the angel of Jehovah. We see three titles being attributed to Jehoshua, one is Saviour which is of primary importance as that function of Jehoshua is what enables us to be sons and daughters of God. Secondly, His title of Messiah indicates that He is Jehovah's anointed, thirdly His title of Lord indicates His Kingship and rulership. These are all gospel truths. While some may abstain from celebrating the birth of Messiah there is nothing wrong with it as long as it is not done in conjunction with the pagan xmas customs. The angels in heaven certainly celebrated the birth of our Lord. Luke 2:13-14 (KJV) 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. The angels in heaven understood the significance of Jehoshua's birth and praised the God of heaven for this miracle that had huge implications for Israel and the whole world. The sheperds also knew what this miracle meant for the people of Israel in verse 20 of Luke 1: "And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." Do you notice that all who were made aware of the birth of Jehoshua were worshipping God? This is because they knew that this was the promised hope of Israel, their long awaited Messiah and King who would restore the Kingdom to them. Simeon of Jerusalem certainly understood the significance of Jehoshua's birth: Luke 2:25-33 (KJV) 25And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.26And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.27And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,28Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,29Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:30For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,31Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;32A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.33And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.34And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;35Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Simeon calls Jehoshua the consolation of Israel. Consolation comes from the Greek word "paraklesis" (Strongs 3874) and means "imploration, hortation, solace, comfort, consolation, intreaty, exhortation." The propechy cannot be broken, seperating Jehoshua from Israel is anti-gospel. He was and is to be their comfort and solace. Any gospel that speaks of replacement theology is no gospel at all and this is a stern warning against the denominations who proclaim themselves the Israel of God. The good news is that Israel is all beleivers regardless of race or ethnic group or nationality and it has nothing to do with belonging to a certain denomination. In verse 26, Simeon refers to Jehoshua as the "Lord's i.e. Jehovah's "Christ i.e. Messiah" which means anointed one.
