We are Sabbath keeping Anabaptists who hold to the confession of Swiss Brethren ratified in 1527.
This blog is done in honor of the pioneers of Seventh Day Anabaptism, Andreas Fischer and Oswald Glait.
These two men were part of the restorationist Anabaptist movement that swept through Europe in the 1500's and 1600's.
The Anabaptist movement was restoring precious truths to the Christian Congregation that the Protestants were unwilling to fight for.
Already hated by Catholics and Protestants alike for their views on adult baptism and separation of Church and State, the Anabaptist movement added another doctrine that infuriated mainstream Christendom.
This doctrine was the restoration of the Seventh Day Sabbath, however only a small number of Anabaptists adopted the 4th commandment of the Decalogue. The two men who pioneered this branch of Sabbath keeping Anabaptists were Andreas Fischer and Oswald Glait.
Our goal is not to start a denomination as that would be contrary to the Anabaptist way. Our aim is to spread awareness of fundamental Anabaptist principles along with the restoration of Sabbath keeping Anabaptism that was lost at some point in Anabaptist history.
I believe the principles of Anabaptism are in harmony with Christ's teachings and are more a way of life than a set of systematic doctrines. Anabaptism takes the Christian back to simplicity of the faith that is sorely lacking in mainstream Christendom.
While much of the American Church is consumed by politics and the affairs of this life, the way of the Anabaptist is a narrow road to Kingdom of Jehovah living. Anabaptism is known for it's pacifism and Christ centered approach to life in general. While we look at all the Anabaptist pioneers as our heritage, we feel the two men mentioned above came the closest to restoring the Church to a true New Testament model notably in honoring the 10 commandments in it's entirety.
There are several groups that have Anabaptist heritage but none that I know of have restored the Seventh Day Sabbath to Anabaptism. There are also other truths that we seek to restore to Anabaptism that our forefather's in the faith held true to. On this blog, we will honor all the heroes of the Anabaptist faith whether they kept the Sabbath or not as they all deserve to be held in high regard for the price they paid in restoring Christ like simplicity to the faith.
My hope is that the fundamental principles of the Anabaptist faith inspire you to adopt them as your own and who knows maybe you will want to be called an Anabaptist and keep the precious Sabbath day of Jehovah God. As I stated before, I have no desire to start a new denomination as there are already enough of those, Anabaptism is more of a movement and way of life than anything else. After being convicted that the Anabaptist way of Christian life witnesses to your spirit, you may end up starting an Anabaptist home fellowship. If so, let us know and we will publish your contact information on a list of Sabbath Keeping Anabaptist home fellowships.
Blessing from your brother in the Son of God,
