Jehoshua is on the throne of David in New Jerusalem and He is the King of a New Israel
One of the forgotten truths of Jehovah, which is been discarded by Christendom, is the importance of David's holy vine concerning Messianic prophecy. The study of Christology is deemed as the most important doctrine in the Christendom. Many fights, divisions and even murders have taken place in the name of defending the "correct" and "orthodox" Christology. The most well known of these is the Arian-trinitarian controversy which still rages today even though it began in the early part of the 4th century. The fight is about whether Jehoshua was created out of nothing before the world began in eternity or whether He was/is eternally begotten from the Father's substance. There are other fights as well that concern the substance of the Son of God whether it be before He came to earth in His so called "pre existent" career or whether it's about what He was made of as a Human being. Without getting into the details of all the different arguments within Christendom concerning Christology, I would like to present what the bible teaches as the absolute bedrock truth concerning the substance (Christology) of Jehoshua Messiah. What many Christians fail to do is go back to the old testament to get their truth on what the Messiah would be made of. The old testament provides the foundation on which all teachings of Christology should be rooted in. Unfortunately most of Christendom, along with their Hebrew roots and Messianic counterparts, fails to go to the sacred scriptures to get their Christology and instead relies on man made creeds and so called "Church fathers". They fail to go to the torah and prophets to learn about what the Messiah was prophesied to be like concerning His identity and substance. The origin of the Messiah has to be gleaned from the old testament otherwise we can end up creating a false version of Him. Jehoshua's identity concerning family lineage has to be understood in the context of what was originally prophesied of Him. Once we get the identity of the Messiah right, then many other things will fall into place concerning the true heart of His mission. Unfortunately, Christendom has created a false version of Israel's Messiah in terms of what He taught, His mission and all this is rooted in their understanding of His identity, in other words their Christology. This study is called the holy vine of David as I will show that true Christology/Messiahology has to begin from the holy vine of David, otherwise we have a false Messiah on our hands. Discovering the truth of the Messiah's roots will undo centuries of pagan doctrines brought into the Church by Mystery Babylon aka the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church was referred to as the Universal (Catholic) Church and the "Orthodox" faith in the pre-nicene days (325 AD). Eventually Orthodoxy i.e. Catholic took on the name "Roman Catholic Church" as Catholicity eventually centered it's empire in Rome. The corruption of the pure Messianic faith is seen in the writings of what people call "the early Church fathers" or "Catholic fathers". These are the men who existed before the council of Nicea in 325 AD. They were of the Catholic (Orthodox) faith. This corruption continued to escalate even more after the council of Nicea and in the writings of the post nicene fathers. When studying the history of the Church, a progression away from the Hebraic understanding of Jehoshua Messiah becomes evident. In this study I will show from scripture that we have been lied to all along regarding the origin of the Messiah and His substance meaning what He is made of. There indeed was a developing Christology in the centuries subsequent to the resurrection of the Messiah. Most will be surprised to learn that the trinity doctrine was nowhere to be found in the early days of the Church. The trinity doctrine was the end result of three centuries of the Church leaving the foundation of who Jehoshua was in identity and origin. Instead of going through the progression of apostasy that led to the trinity and it's sister doctrines, I will conduct a study that will reveal and rediscover the Messiah's true roots. So lets begin this journey and go to where it all started in terms of the prophetic revelation of who the future Messiah would be in terms of identity and origin. We will start with 2 Samuel chapter 7: 2Samuel Chapter 7 1And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and Jehovah had given him rest from all his enemies round about,2that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.3And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart; for Jehovah is with thee.4And it came to pass the same night, that the word of Jehovah came unto Nathan, saying,5Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah, Shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?6for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.7In all places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel, spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built me a house of cedar?8Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be prince over my people, over Israel;9and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a great name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.10And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,11and [as] from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will cause thee to rest from all thine enemies. Moreover Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will make thee a house.12When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.13He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.14I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;15but my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.16And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.18Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?19And this was yet a small thing in thine eyes, O Lord Jehovah; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant`s house for a great while to come; and this [too] after the manner of men, O Lord Jehovah!20And what can David say more unto thee? for thou knowest thy servant, O Lord Jehovah.21For thy word`s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou wrought all this greatness, to make thy servant know it.22Wherefore thou art great, O Jehovah God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.23And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem unto himself for a people, and to make him a name, and to do great things for you, and terrible things for thy land, before thy people, whom thou redeemest to thee out of Egypt, [from] the nations and their gods?24And thou didst establish to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever; and thou, Jehovah, becamest their God.25And now, O Jehovah God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, confirm thou it for ever, and do as thou hast spoken. 26And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is God over Israel; and the house of thy servant David shall be established before thee.27For thou, O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee a house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.28And now, O Lord Jehovah, thou art God, and thy words are truth, and thou hast promised this good thing unto thy servant:29now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Jehovah, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever. In the first several verses of 2 Samuel chapter 7, we read that David is lamenting that he has not built a house for Jehovah God. David feels guilty for living in the kings Palace yet the ark of the covenant dwelt behind curtains in a tent. The ark of the covenant was where Jehovah's presence would rest upon. David was explaining his dilemma to Nathan the prophet. After telling David to do what was in his heart, Jehovah spoke to Nathan and gave him words to speak unto David. Jehovah tells Nathan to tell David that He (Jehovah) had never requested that a house of brick and mortar be built for Him all this time, from the time Moses was given instructions concerning the tabernacle to the present time of king David. In verse 8 of 2 Samuel 7, Jehovah God shifts the topic from the ark of the covenant and a house being made for it to king David himself. Jehovah recalls His calling of David from his humble beginnings of being a sheepherder to being the king of Israel. In verse 9 of 2nd Samuel, Jehovah confirms to David that He (Jehovah) has been with Him in the vanquishing of Israel's enemies and has given him rest from his enemies. Verse 9 is where we get into the Davidic covenant and the promises made to king David. Jehovah tells David, through Nathan the prophet, that He (Jehovah) will make David a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth. So we can see from verse 9 that Jehovah has something big in store for David. Verse 10, Jehovah gives Davd a promise of peace for Israel. Verse 11, Jehovah tells David that He (Jehovah) will make David a house in other words a dynasty. This where we get into the Davidic covenant. Jehovah is not talking about a brick ane mortar house but rather a family dynasty rooted in kingship. 2 Samuel 7:12 12And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom Seed = carnally, child, posterity, male sperm, offspring (H strongs 2233) Proceed = begotten, bring forth (H strongs 3318) Bowels = the intestines, the abdomen, the uterus, belly, womb, or OF MEN the SEAT of GENERATION (H strongs 4578) Prophetically Jehoshua the Son of God had to proceed meaning He had to be begotten from the sperm (seed) of a male descendant of David's bowels (of men, the seat of generation). The Davidic covenant was a major advance in God's redemptive message regarding the Messiah, Genesis 49:10: 10The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler`s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come: And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be. "Sceptre", a rod used by a king (Psalm 2:9), "lawgiver" a King (Isaiah 33:22). "Shiloh" Him to whom the kingdom belongs. "The obedience of the peoples" the nations who will submit to Messiah the King. Genesis 49 : 10 " between his feet " is a euphemism for the penis where a man's seed comes from. Jehoshua had to be of the tribe of Judah & descended from King David so this means that a male would have to pass on the seed of David to him. This helps us to determine the origin of the Messiah. Verse 13 of 2 Samuel 7 "He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever." There is an immediate application here to Solomon who built a glorious temple for Jehovah however this passage clearly has a wider and far fulfillment in the future do to the Jehovah telling David that He will establish his throne and kingdom forever. This aspect of the prophecy was not fulfilled by Solomon who died and also whose kingdom was split in two. This aspect of the prophecy could only be fulfilled by an eternal King, we know this to be Jehoshua, the Son of God. As far as David's son building a house for Jehovah, while Solomon fulfilled this there is also a greater fulfillment in Jehoshua who is currently building Jehovah's temple which is the Church. Zechariah 6 foretells of the man called the "Branch" building the temple of Jehovah. This was after Solomon had been dead and the temple had been in ruins. So obviously the reference to David's seed building a house for Jehovah reaches farther into the future than Solomon. Zechariah 6:12-13 (ASV) 12and speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of Jehovah;13even he shall build the temple of Jehovah; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. We know that the Messiah Jehoshua is the Branch and that this prophecy in Zechariah is about Him. Zechariah says that Jehoshua will build a temple for Jehovah. Ephesians clarifies that this temple is not a brick and mortar structure. Ephesians 2:19-22 (ASV) 19So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,20being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone;21in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord;22in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit. This is the temple that Jehoshua is building for Jehovah. Jehoshua is building the Church which is the new covenant temple of Jehovah. We as believers are the lively stones of the Temple and the apostles and prophets are the foundation. Jehoshua Messiah is the chief cornerstone. Verses 14 and 15 of 2 Samuel 7 14I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;15but my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. The Davidic kings entered into a legal Father-Son relationship with Jehovah God upon their anointing as king. "Will be his Father" this shows us that Jehoshua's Sonship was future and did not exist yet at the time of this prophecy. This hurts the case that Jehoshua was a preexistent Son of God. Jehoshua during His life could have sinned however He didn't. In the case that He did, Jehovah would have used men to chasten Him. Jehovah promises David that His (Jehovah's) lovingkindness will remain with Jehoshua. Of course, there is an immediate application here to Solomon but the ultimate fulfillment is in Jehoshua Messiah. Verses 16 and 17 of 2nd Samuel 7: 16And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David. Verse 16 definitely applies to Jehoshua as Solomon was only a king during his earthly life and then died. Also, his kingdom split in two. Even Solomon's temple didn't last forever. The temple that Jehoshua is building will last forever as His Church will be resurrected/translated on the last day and forever reign with the Son of God and the Father. In addition to the house (Church) of Jehoshua enduring forever, His Kingdom and throne will also endure forever. This was fulfilled at the ascension of the Messiah when God the Father spoke these words to His Son: 8but of the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows. The above passage comes from the book of Hebrews and is in reference to the ascension of the Messiah into heaven. The language here is plain and clear that Jehoshua's throne is forever fulfilling the promise made to David in verse 16 of 2 Samuel chapter 7. Jehovah tells His Son that His (Jehoshua's) is forever. It goes without saying that His Kingdom must also be forever. 2 Peter 1:11 (ASV) 11for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Kingdom of Jehoshua Messiah is an eternal Kingdom. This is shown all over scripture. In verses 18-24 of 2 Samuel chapter 7, David is praising Jehovah for His mercy, kindness and faithfulness to himself (David) and the nation of Israel. Verse 25 of 2 Samuel chapter 7: "And now, O Jehovah God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, confirm thou it for ever, and do as thou hast spoken." David prays for God's will to be done, which according to God's own words, is to have David's house (family dynasty) to be established forever. Verses 28 and 29 of 2nd Samuel chapter 7: 28And now, O Lord Jehovah, thou art God, and thy words are truth, and thou hast promised this good thing unto thy servant:29now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Jehovah, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever. David acknowledges that Jehovah only speaks truth and that His promises are sure. David believed in the promises of God. This is an example of righteousness by faith. Jehovah's promise to David has to be fulfilled exactly as said. David felt security in the promise Jehovah made to him concerning his (David's) house (dynasty). David again in verse 29 praises Jehovah's word as absolute truth and specifically connects it with the promise made to David that his house would be blessed forever and endure forever. These promises to David were summed up in Jehoshua. If Jehovah alters this prophecy given to David then this means that Jehovah's word is not truth and His promises are not sure. At the heart of this promise (covenant) made to and with David is that his seed (sperm) would last forever. This means that the future Messiah would have to literally be of David's seed in order to be the legitimate Messiah and King of Israel. Modern Christendom has all but done away with the absolute importance of this prophecy and have substituted the true origin of the Messiah for a false one. Lets go to Psalm 89 for even more confirmation that Jehovah's covenant promises cannot be altered in any way. Psalm 89 :1-52 (ASV) 1I will sing of the lovingkindness of Jehovah for ever: With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.2For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever; Thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens.3I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant:4Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah5And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Jehovah; Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.6For who in the skies can be compared unto Jehovah? Who among the sons of the mighty is like unto Jehovah,7A God very terrible in the council of the holy ones, And to be feared above all them that are round about him?8O Jehovah God of hosts, Who is a mighty one, like unto thee, O Jehovah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee.9Thou rulest the pride of the sea: When the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.10Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; Thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.11The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: The world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them. 12The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon rejoice in thy name.13Thou hast a mighty arm; Strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of thy throne: Lovingkindness and truth go before thy face.15Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.16In thy name do they rejoice all the day; And in thy righteousness are they exalted.17For thou art the glory of their strength; And in thy favor our horn shall be exalted.18For our shield belongeth unto Jehovah; And our king to the Holy One of Israel.19Then thou spakest in vision to thy saints, And saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.20I have found David my servant; With my holy oil have I anointed him:21With whom my hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him.22The enemy shall not exact from him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.23And I will beat down his adversaries before him, And smite them that hate him.24But my faithfulness and my lovingkindness shall be with him; And in my name shall his horn be exalted.25I will set his hand also on the sea, And his right hand on the rivers.26He shall cry unto me, Thou art my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.27I also will make him [my] first-born, The highest of the kings of the earth.28My lovingkindness will I keep for him for evermore; And my covenant shall stand fast with him.29His seed also will I make to endure for ever, And his throne as the days of heaven.30If his children forsake my law, And walk not in mine ordinances;31If they break my statutes, And keep not my commandments;32Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, And their iniquity with stripes.33But my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, Nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.34My covenant will I not break, Nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.35Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David:36His seed shall endure for ever, And his throne as the sun before me.37It shall be established for ever as the moon, And [as] the faithful witness in the sky. Selah38But thou hast cast off and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.39Thou hast abhorred the covenant of thy servant: Thou hast profaned his crown [by casting it] to the ground.40Thou hast broken down all his hedges; Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.41All that pass by the way rob him: He is become a reproach to his neighbors.42Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.43Yea, thou turnest back the edge of his sword, And hast not made him to stand in the battle.44Thou hast made his brightness to cease, And cast his throne down to the ground.45The days of his youth hast thou shortened: Thou hast covered him with shame. Selah46How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? [How long] shall thy wrath burn like fire?47Oh remember how short my time is: For what vanity hast thou created all the children of men!48What man is he that shall live and not see death, That shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah49Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, Which thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?50Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; How I do bear in my bosom [the reproach of] all the mighty peoples,51Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.52Blessed be Jehovah for evermore. Amen, and Amen. This Psalm is of utmost importance in terms of the rock solid binding truth of the covenant that Jehovah made with David. This Psalm confirms that the covenant between Jehovah and David is unchangeable. In verses 1-2 the Psalmist is praising and worshipping Jehovah God for His faithfulness and mercy. 3I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant:4Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah In verses 3 and 4 above, the Psalmist is repeating the words of Jehovah God and reiterating the covenant that He (Jehovah) made with David. Jehovah calls David His chosen and His servant. Both of these titles naturally apply to the Messiah who was called by Jehovah to be His servant. The calling of Jehoshua took place at His baptism as He had already been foreordained/elected before the foundation of the world. God chose Him to be the Messiah and King of Israel and made Him those things at His (Jehoshua's) baptism. This is important to understand because it mirrors the same way David was chosen as God's son, Messiah and king. David was not born those things although he may have been foreordained to inherit such honors. There was something that Jehovah saw in David which caused Jehovah to choose David to be His servant and son. David was chosen by God as an adult not a baby or a little kid. David was anointed by the prophet Samuel with oil which represents and is symbolic of the holy spirit and then he was anointed with the actual holy spirit of Jehovah God in a mighty way. This took place when David was around 30 years old. Jehoshua was baptized in water by the John the baptist. Water like oil represents and is symbolic of the holy spirit. And just like David, Jehoshua was then anointed with the actual holy spirit of Jehovah God in a mighty way.(1 Samuel 16:13; Isaiah 11:1-3). In verse 4 of Psalms 89, the promise is reiterated that Jehovah will establish David's seed forever. Seed = carnally, child, posterity, male sperm, offspring (H strongs 2233) So basically Jehovah promised David that His seed (sperm) would last forever meaning someone would carry on the family name and heritage, being a literal flesh and blood descendant of king David. This person would be a descendant through the male line of king David hence the reference to "seed" in other words "sperm". The seed is passed from the male not the female as it is the male that has sperm. The natural conclusion is that this future inheritor of the Davidic covenant would be born of a male who is of the seed of David. This is the only plausible way for the seed of David to be passed on meaning through a male descendant of David. Jehoshua fulfills this prophecy in verse 4 as his father Joseph was said to be of the house of David meaning a literal flesh and blood descendant of David. Being male and a descendant of David means that Joseph was able to pass on the seed of David to his children. A woman of David's line would not be able to pass the seed of David on to her children as women do not have sperm (seed). So Jehoshua fulfills the requirement of being someone who is of David's seed line. Also, He was resurrected so He also fulfills the prophecy of establishing the seed of David forever. As to the second part of this verse, "and build up thy throne to all generations" Jehoshua also fulfilled this by being exalted to sit on David's throne at His ascension into heaven: Hebrews 1:8-9 (ASV) 8but of the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.9Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Jehovah God tells His Son Jehoshua that His throne (the throne of David) is forever. Peter the apostle refers to the kingdom of Jehoshua as the eternal Kingdom: 2 Peter 1:11 (ASV) 11for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We see that Jehoshua fulfills the prophecy of verses 3 and 4, which is that someone of David's seed line, which is passed through the male, would carry on the family tree forever and that His (the seed of David) throne would be established forever. In verses 5-17, the Psalmist is praising Jehovah for all His Majestic works and His character. Psalms 89:18 18For our shield belongeth unto Jehovah; And our king to the Holy One of Israel. The Psalmist says that the king of Israel belongs to Jehovah. This is referencing the covenant relationship that Jehovah God and the king of Israel shared with each other. Jehovah was the Father of the king and the king was the adopted son of Jehovah God. The next verses in Psalm 89 continue in the theme of Jehovah's covenant with David 19Then thou spakest in vision to thy saints, And saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.20I have found David my servant; With my holy oil have I anointed him:21With whom my hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him. Jehovah is qouted as saying that He laid help upon one that is mighty. This help is what we call "salvation", in other words Jehovah is anointing a mighty one to be a horn of salvation to the people of Israel. The second part of verse 19 says that Jehovah has exalted one chosen out of the people of Israel. It is God that does the exalting of the Messiah. Men cannot exalt themselves to positions such as Messiah, high priest or prophet. It is God alone who does the choosing and the exalting. This Psalm is a Messianic prophecy of Jehoshua and the Psalmist is saying that the future Messiah will be chosen by God to be the fufillment of the Davidic covenant. The emphasis is on the Messiah being chosen at some point in His life. This prophecy in effect refutes the idea of the future Messiah being born as "the Messiah" but rather He will be chosen to be the Messiah at some point. The book of Acts chapter 2 supports this: 36Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both King and Messiah, this Jehoshua whom ye crucified. When was Jehoshua chosen to be the Messiah or in other words made the Messiah? At His baptism where He was anointed with the Spirit of Jehovah. We can be certain of this because the word "Messiah" means "anointed one". Jehoshua became the Messiah when He was anointed (Messianic) with the Holy Spirit. You cannot be the Messiah if you are not anointed with the Spirit because the very meaning of Messiah means you have been anointed with the Spirit of Jehovah. Jehoshua is only described as being full of the Holy Spirit after His baptism. Luke 4:1 1And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the wilderness Jehoshua was full of the Holy Spirit after His baptism in the Jordan river as the text clearly says. This shows us that it was after He was baptized in which He recieved the Messianic Spirit hence this is exactly when God chose and made Him Messiah. Jehoshua was foreordained to be the Messiah before the foundation of the world but chosen and made such at His baptism at 30 years old, the same age as David. The above text in Psalms clearly indicates that David's future seed would be chosen as the Messiah not born as the Messiah. Also, verse 19 says that chosen one would be from the nation of Israel. Clearly Jehoshua fulfills this as He is from the tribe of Judah. Verse 20, David is a type of Jehoshua and the forerunner of the Davidic Messianic kings. Jehoshua is the completion of the Davidic Messianic Kings. David was called God's servant just as the future Messiah Jehoshua was called the servant of God.

Hebrews 2 (ASV)
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply we drift away from them. Here the author of Hebrews is giving encouragement to the saints to hold on to the apostolic doctrine of the Messiah. It is popular in mainstream Christendom to minimize the importance of doctrine, however we are actually to be fervent for the teachings of the Messiah and His apostles. Bu not giving earnest heed to the doctrine of Messiah we risk drifting away from the faith. This verse comes off the exaltation chapter of the Son of God. The author of Hebrews is clearly telling his readers to always remember to honor the Son of God as the King of Israel and the only begotten of God. It’s also a call to remember the superiority of the Son over angels. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; 3 how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which having at the first been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard; Again, a reference to the superiority of the Son over the angels. Disobedience to Jehovah’s angels was a serious crime, how much moreso is disobedience to His only begotten Son deserving of punishment? The apostles confirmed the word (doctrine) spoken by Jehoshua to the early Church. 4 God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by manifold powers, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will. Jehovah God bore witness with His Son and then the apostles of the Son by working miracles, signs and wonders through them. This was according to the will of the Father, who is the initiator of salvation. It is God the Father that calls the elect, the Son redeemed the elect by way of the cross and the Holy Spirit sanctifies the elect. 5 For not unto angels did he subject the world to come, whereof we speak. The comparison between the angels and the Son of God continues as the Son of God has been covenanted the eternal Kingdom. This further shows us that Jehoshua is superior over the angels. Any effort to teach that Jehoshua was a preexistent angel is false to the book of Hebrews which makes sharp contrast between them. The angels now are under the authority of the Messiah and will continue to be in the new heaven and new earth. This passages proves that Michael is not the only begotten Son of God as no angel has been covenanted the kingdom of the age to come. Angelic Christology is taken apart in the book of Hebrews. 6 But one hath somewhere testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? Or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownedst him with glory and honor, And didst set him over the works of thy hands: God the Father created man to have authority over the earth even though they were made a little lower than the angels. In the age to come, man will have complete dominion over the earth but instead of being lower than the angels will be made better than the angles through resurrection/translation. “crownest with glory and honor”, man was made in the image of God. Both male and female are made in the Creatpr’s image. 8 Thou didst put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he subjected all things unto him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him. Initially in the garden, man had all of creation subjected to him however due to the fall of Adam man lost this privilege. In the coming Kingdom of the new heaven and new earth man will once again have everything subjected under his feet. This was Jehovah God’s will since the beginning in that man was to rule over His creative works. 9 But we behold him who hath been made a little lower than the angels, even Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for every man. As believers we are to behold the only begotten Son of God, He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the pattern man in which we look up to as our example (Hebrews 12;1-2). Jehoshua like all men was made lower than the angels when He was born. However, when He was resurrected the Messiah was crowned with honor and glory receiving the eternal throne of David (Hebrews 1:8-9). Jehoshua was worshiped by the angels, four living creatures and 24 elders upon His ascension into heaven (Revelation 5:8-14). It was His death and preceding suffering that made Jehoshua worthy to receive the nations for His inheritance (Daniel 7:13-14). Jehoshua’s death provided the full atonement for anyone willing to come to the tree of life and receive the fountain of the Spirit that flows from Jehoshua’s substance. Jehoshua’s death as the spotless Lamb of God was for Israel and those from the gentile nations that would be grafted into the commonwealth of Israel. Jehoshua died so that we don’t have to (eternal death). 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Death became Jehoshua so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren, the first fruits of the resurrection. Everything was created by God the Father for and because of His Son Jehoshua. Creation was executed by God the Father with His Son being the reason to create all things. God created all things so that His Son would one day rule over it as the preeminent King of all of the Father’s creation. One could also understand this as the new creation being designed through Jehoshua, meaning all the saints of the Kingdom as well as the new heaven and new earth were designed through and by Jehoshua’s who is the literal beginning of the new creation. At the resurrection, all of the saints who have ever lived will receive immortality following in the footsteps of the first begotten of the dead which is Jehoshua. So all of the new creation including the new heaven and new earth will literally come through Jehoshua. The saints of old testament times and the saints in the new covenant receive immortality through the merits and blood of God’s first born Son which was prefigured in the old testament and realized in the new testament. It was by Jehoshua’s suffering that paved the way for us to come to glory by being regenerated in this life by the Spirit and further by our future resurrection/translation when the Kingdom arrives in its fullness. Jehoshua is called the author of our salvation and was made perfect through His sufferings which included the events preceding the cross and also including His death on the cross. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they that are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Jehoshua is the one who is the sanctifier and we as believers in Him are the ones sanctified by Him. By the shedding of His innocent blood, He sanctified us. We are made clean through the righteousness of Jehoshua Messiah and His blood cleanseth us from all sin. All we must do is trust in the merits of what the Son of God did at the cords and thus we are sanctified and made clean, 12 saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, In the midst of the congregation will I sing thy praise. Quoting from a Psalm, the author of Hebrews attributes this to a Messianic prophecy. Like all Messiahs of the past, the ultimate Messiah Jehoshua declares and glorifies the name of the One God of Israel Jehovah. In John 1:18 it says that Jehoshua explained the Father or in other words came to properly reveal who the Father is, thereby declaring His name. 1 John 5:20 says that the Son came to give us an understanding of the One true God. Jehoshua was a true worshipper acknowledging the Father as the One true God (John 17:3) and that to belive such is the key to eternal life. Jehoshua told the woman at the well that the time was at hand that true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. In Mark 12:28-34, Jehoshua acknowledged the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4) as the greatest commandment which is that Jehovah God is One. Jehoshua when tempted told Satan that we are to worship Jehovah God alone and to serve Him alone. The Son of God also said that God alone is good. Unlike most professed Christians, Jehoshua did not worship a Trinitarian god nor a Binitarian god. 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children whom God hath given me. Jehoshua put His trust in the one God of Israel in believing in the inheritance and the glory that was predestined for Him before the world began (Hebrews 12:1-2). This is why Jehoshua was willing to endure the shame of the cross because He knew that throne of David awaited Him in the most holy place at the right hand of the Father. He also trusted in the Father during the time of His intense trial on His way to the cross as He leaned on the Father. Jehovah God gave the apostles to the Son as well as all subsequent believers (John 17:6, 9, 11, 12, 20). All who are in the Church today have been given to Jehoshua by God the Father showing that the Father is the author of salvation and the Son is the one by which one obtains salvation as the redeemer/reconciler. 14 Since then the children are sharers in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; The cross is significant in that it was through what happened on that instrument that Jehoshua destroyed the works of Satan. Many people don’t realize that the devil is an already vanquished foe and they refuse to walk in the victory that the Son of God gave to all those who are willing to come to the tree of life. As children of God we share in flesh and blood as the Son also partook of the same during His earthly life. This passage shows that indeed Jehoshia was a full human being. 15 and might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. When we were in the world we were subject to death because we didn’t have the hope of eternal life and therefore a natural fear of death took hold us. Jehoshua by His death reconciled us to the Father thereby delivering us from the power of Satan and his kingdom. 16 For verily not to angels doth he give help, but he giveth help to the seed of Abraham. Jehoshua as our High Priest gives us (His Church) grace in the time of need. By His Spirit Jehoshua comforts us as He is our advocate with Jehovah God (1 John 2:1). Advocate and comforter come from the same Greek word “paracletos”. Jehoshua is the two olive trees that pours its oil (Holy Spirit) into the Church (Menora). The Son of God ministers to the Church not angels. The Messiah sends for the Spirit of Jehovah into all the earth in order to comfort His body which is the Church (John 14:16). 17 Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Just as Moses prophesied in Deuteronomy 18, the coming Messiah was fully human just like His brethren. The teaching of a God-Man or a hybrid divine-human in terms of nature is contrary to the scriptures. In order to be made like His brethren means that He had to be fully man. Because Jehoshua was tempted in all points as we are, He is able to bear witness with the struggles that we have being human and therefore is merciful to us knowing that the flesh is weak. The ministration of the Son of God’s priesthood is one of grace and mercy. Although we don’t seek to fall, as God’s will for us is to not sin, if we do fall then we have the Son of God as our High Priest who sympathizes with us and also forgives us. Jehoshua went through the same struggles that we do yet He was without sin. He therefore can relate to us and the trials that we go through on a daily basis. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted. Because He was made in our likeness and suffered temptation as we do, the Son of God is able to succor (invite) us when we are tempted. This is an invitation to overcome just as He did by bestowing His grace upon us. One of the meanings of grace is “a divine influence upon the heart to lead a holy life”. Titus 2:11 11 For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works. The above passage in Titus sums up the intent of God’s grace given to the Church and also the purpose of Jehoshua’s death in that we are to be free from lawlessness and zealous of good works. Jehoshua purchased us so that we no longer would walk in the lusts of the world but rather in the righteousness of the Kingdom. Jehoshua’s High Priest ministration is not just so that we can forgiveness of sin in the time of need but more importantly we can receive grace to overcome sin just as He did. |
