Jehoshua is on the throne of David in New Jerusalem and He is the King of a New Israel
Psalm 149
The gospel in Psalm Chapter 149 1 Praise ye Jehovah. Sing unto Jehovah a new song, And his praise in the assembly of the saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 3 Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with timbrel and harp. 4 For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people: He will beautify the meek with salvation. 5 Let the saints exult in glory: Let them sing for joy upon their beds.6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand; 7 To execute vengeance upon the nations, And punishments upon the peoples; 8 To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 To execute upon them the judgment written: This honor have all his saints. Praise ye Jehovah Many fail to see that the gospel is not just a new testament concept but goes back to what people call the "old testament". Here in Psalm 149 we see a reality of the gospel that makes most churchmen blush. Why is this? Because it destroys the pacifist Jesus they idolize and destroys the idea of being meek as being passive or docile. Verse 1 talks about our worship to Jehovah God in a corporate setting. Singing and praising Jehovah God in the midst of the congregation is not just a new testament concept but goes back to the old testament. Singing a new song has nothing to do with literally creating a new type of worship but rather praising Jehovah God for new blessings and being thankful everyday for ones you didn't realize you had. Israel rejoices in the fact that they have been formed and created by Jehovah God from the womb. They are the holy seed of Jehovah: Ezra 9:2 "For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the peoples of the lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass" Isaiah 44:1-2 1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant, and Israel, who I have chosen: 2 Thus saith Jehovah that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob my servant; and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. Israel is Jehovah's first born son being given Jehovah's spirit at conception in the womb. This Spirit writes Jehovah's law on the hearts of Israel. Thereby Israel is made in Jehovah's image. Never is it said that Jehovah formed any other nation. Adam and Eve are the progenitors of the Israelite people. Verse 3, The dance and musical instruments are appropriate in our worship of Jehovah God. The Father of spirits delights in our praise of Him. Verse 4, Jehovah takes pleasure in His Israelite people. The word pleasure comes from the Hebrew word "delight, enjoy, to be accepted, favourable, affection, to be pleased with, approve" Think of a father with his child. A child is the apple of his father's eye. This is how Jehovah looks at His Israelite race: Zechariah 2:8 "For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After glory hath he sent me unto the nations which plundered you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye" The Israelite people are precious to Jehovah God, He keeps an account of those who trouble his first born son Israel. Jehovah delights in His people and approves of them this is why we should never let anyone condemn us and put guilt trips on us because we are His begotten children. We should always remember that we are the offspring of Jehovah God and that we have the Sonship. Only those of the flesh hate this and will try and bring us religion and condemnation and try to say Jehovah is displeased with us. Know this Saints, we are Jehovah's treasured (precious) possession and no one can take us from His hand. We are loved abundantly by our Creator who formed us (Israel) and made us in His image. Jehovah will beautify the meek with salvation. This is a powerful scripture. Who is meek according to the Son of God Jehoshua? Matthew 5:3-11 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness` sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye when [men] shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. These are called the beatitudes and in verse 5 Jehoshua says blessed are the meek. The definition of meek is in the surrounding verses, it is those who are peace makers, merciful, those that mourn, those that are maligned, the poor in spirit, the pure in heart and those that hunger and thirst after righteousness. The definition of the word meek comes from the Greek word "praus" (Strongs 4239) and means "gentleness of spirit, humble". The Hebrew word for "meek" basically has the same meaning as the Greek word. The word for "beautify" in the Hebrew (Strongs 6286) is "adorn, to glorify, beautify, to gleam" The day of Salvation is at the last day when the Kingdom of Jehovah God comes down to the earth after His Son Jehoshua vanquishes the wicked. Jehovah will adorn the "meek" i.e. poor in spirit with inheritance of the Kingdom as we will be kings and priests and sit on thrones reigning with the Messiah (the day star) and be pillars in the temple of Jehovah. We will have white stones with new names i.e authority to judge. We will eat of the tree of life in the paradise of God and have Jehovah's name written on our foreheads. "Let the saints exult in glory: Let them sing for joy upon their beds" We are to have the praises of Jehovah on our lips at all times. Verse 6 of Psalm 149 is interesting "Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand" We are not only worshippers in song of Jehovah God but we are His warriors who bear the sword. Notice that just two verses earlier these ones who now bear the sword are called "meek" (verse 4). This shows that being meek does not equate to being docile or passive. As king Solomon said there is a time to fight and a time for peace: Ecclesiastes 3:8 "a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace" There is no such thing as pacifism in the bible, Jehovah's saints are expected to go to war when the time comes. Certainly there is a time for peace but there is also a time for war unless of course you want to deny Solomon was filled and inspired by the holy Spirit when he wrote this. Even Jehoshua told his apostles to buy swords: Luke 22:36 "And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword" What would be the purpose of the Son of God telling the apostles to buy a sword? It's not clear as some use Jehoshua's quote of Isaiah 53:12 as the answer but that only says Jehoshua would be numbered among the transgressors with no direct connection to the apostles having swords. It just means Jehoshua would be arrested as a transgressor due to the accusations leveled against him not necessarily because the apostles were carrying swords. In fact, there is nothing that says carrying a sword was transgression against the law of the land at that time so the apostles carrying swords wouldn't make them and Jehoshua transgressors. Jehoshua's statement just alludes to his arrest, nothing more nothing less. Matthew 26:51-54 51 And behold, one of them that were with Jehoshua stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. 52 Then saith Jehoshua unto him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Or thinkest thou that I cannot beseech my Father, and he shall even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be? We have to ask why the apostles would draw their sword and use it if indeed Jehoshua taught a doctrine of pacifism. In verse 52, Jehoshua commands the apostle to put his sword back in his place as all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Many use this to teach a doctrine of pacifism, however all we can glean from this passage is that the sword should not be the go to solution when we encounter opposition or issues in general. Jehoshua's statement isn't an all encompassing ban on self defense or even on rare occasions pro active agression per the overturning the tables incident. The whole point of Jehoshua's light rebuke was that he had to fulfill prophecy by going into the hands of the religius leaders of Jerusalem. Jehoshua tells the apostles that he could have called on the angels from heaven to intervene. The point is not that Jehoshua is promiting docility or pacifism in the face of evil but rather that our trust should be in Jehovah God and His protection as well as being willing to suffer for the Kingdom when required. This particular incident was obviously not a time for war as king Solomon said. Jehoshua's whipping the money changers at the temple was one of those times for war so to speak. Also, there is a big difference between suffering for the Kingdom and defending oneself, family and even others when violently attacked by robbers, thugs etc. Verse 6 of Psalm 149 as far as it applies to us is likely speaking of the return of the Messiah and the part we will play in the war of Armageddon. For the Israelites of old, they were often commanded to bear the sword to kill their enemies so the idea of bearing the sword as believers in God is not a strange concept. In fact, we will be commanded by Jehoshua to kill those who do not make him their king: Luke 19:27 "But these mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me" Many modern Christians spiritualize away this verse however they have no right to do this as all throughout scripture the Davidic Messiah is prophesied to shed blood and kill with the sword. See Genesis 48:8-10, Psalm 2, Psalm 110, Isaiah 63 and Revelation 19. What will be the purpose of our bearing the sword? Psalm 149:7-9 7 To execute vengeance upon the nations, And punishments upon the peoples; 8 To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 To execute upon them the judgment written: This honor have all his saints. Praise ye Jehovah. We are going to bear the sword because we are going to execute vengeance upon the nations of this world. We will bind the kings and nobles of the nations with fetters of iron. We will be executioners on that day. This sure is not taught in the churches. Remember Luke 19:27 quoted above? Jehoshua is command us to kill those who would not make him King with the sword. The church is embarrassed by this passage and takes many pains to explain it away. Yet if we deny that this passage says and means exactly what it says then we make Jehoshua a liar. That is not a good place to stand on. You may say "Jehoshua is telling this to the angels not us" yet Psalm 149 confirms that indeed the Saints are the ones who will be killing the royalty of the nations with the sword. We will bind them with chains. Who does the Psalmist say has this honor to execute the vengeance of Jehovah with the sword? The saints (verse 9). Who are the saints? The brethren of the Messiah. We cannot spiritualize away these texts, when Jehovah commanded Israel to fight against their enemies it was not some erethral spiritual war but it was very literal. Jude 14-15 14 And to these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, Behold, Jehovah came with ten thousands of his holy ones (saints), 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have ungodly wrought, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. This fits perfectly with Psalm 149 as the arrival of Jehovah with His holy ones (saints) will be to execute judgment upon the ungodly. These ungodly include the kings and nobles of the nations mentioned in Psalm 149. Just as in Psalm 149 and Luke 19:27, here in Jude it is the holy ones (Saints) doing the execution of the wicked along with the kings and nobles of the nations. Jehovah God has given this pleasure to the saints (children of Jehovah). This is a gift to us yet many Christians refuse this and say it is atrocious to even think we will kill people when the Son of God returns. Did you know that it is even gonna be the pleasure of the Son of God to kill the heads of many nations: Psalm 110:5-7 5 The Lord at thy right hand Will strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations, He will fill [the places] with dead bodies; He will strike through the head in many countries. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way: Therefore will he lift up the head. Earlier in this Psalm David prophesied that his Royal descendant would be placed on the right hand of Jehovah God. The apostolic church applied this prophesy to Jehoshua as did Jehoshua himself. So it is Jehoshua that will strike through the heads (kings and nobles) of many countries. In verse 7 the phrase "he will lift up the head" denotes his satisfaction with what he has done i.e. killing the heads of many countries. Let's go to Isaiah 63: Isaiah 63:4-8 4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my wrath, it upheld me. 6 And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth. 7 I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah, [and] the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour. This is a prophesy about the Messiah's second advent and the destruction of the Edomites. This is prophetically Jehoshua speaking here and he says that the day of vengeance is in his heart. In other words, this is something that he wants to do. Why would Jehoshua want to take vengeance on Edom? Because for the sake of his redeemed which are the house of Israel and Judah. Verse 6 says that the Davidic King's wrath upholds him in the day of vengeance meaning his wrath is what keeps him strong to do the task of destroying Edom. Again, this vengeance is for the sake of his people Israel and bringing them salvation as Jehoshua is the arm of salvation for his people. Verses 6 and 7, Notice that Jehoshua taking vengeance on the wicked Edomites and destroying them in his wrath and pouring their lifeblood on the earth does not contradict that this actually an act of Jehovah's loving kindness. In one verse Jehoshua goes from talking about what he is going to do to the Edomites to praising Jehovah for his love and great goodness. This parallels Psalm 149 to a "T" as in one verse the saints go from praising Jehovah God with their lips to bearing the sword taking vengeance on the kings and nobles of the nations and binding them in chains as well. This vengeance taken upon the Edomites is for the sake of Israel Jehovah's first born Son. The Messiah praises Jehovah for His great goodness to Israel not the other nations and especially not Edom. For Edom, Jehovah has wrath and hatred. For Israel, Jehovah has love and goodness. We should praise Jehovah God for the same in that His Son will come and trample the Edomites in his wrath but show tender mercies to His Adamite Israelite race. Do you see how the gospel is two-fold? The good news of the gospel is Jehovah God's Davidic Messiah, along with the saints, taking the sword and killing kings and nobles and binding them in chains. See Luke 19:27 for Jehoshua's direct words. The good news of the gospel that Jehovah does this for the sake of His covenant people the Israel of Jehovah. Verse 8, for the Messiah says surely the Israelite people are Jehovah's and He (Jehovah) is their (Israel's) Saviour. Notice that the Messiah does not say that Jehovah is anyone else's Saviour except Israel.
