The battle cry of the Anabaptists is "to go"
Matthew 28:19-20 19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. For Anabaptists, the commandments of Jesus Christ are what defines true Christian faith. These commandments are summed up in the sermon on the mount and it is these teachings that are to be taken to the nations with the intent of making disciples among them. The command given to the apostles and those that would follow after them was not to come up with a system of theology and teach that to others but rather to teach them the doctrine of Christ. See, Jesus Christ the Son of the living God is central to the faith of Anabaptists. While all Christians would make that claim, for Anabaptists it is more than just acknowledging and believing who Jesus is but rather it is to have faith that what Jesus taught is the measuring stick for how one is deemed a follower of Christ. For Anabaptists, Jesus cannot be separated from His actual words (teachings). To reject and/or disobey Jesus words is to reject and disobey Jesus Himself. John 14:15-16 15 If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, The proof that we love Jesus is that we keep His commandments. No other evidence is sufficient to prove our love for Jesus. This truth has been lost on the evangelical world that has turned Christianity to a complicated set of theological beliefs yet obedience to Jesus commandments is outright ignored. In fact, to be sent the holy spirit is contingent upon obeying Jesus commandments. These are the words of Jesus Himself. John 15:10 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. Jesus makes it clear that abide (remain) in His love is dependent upon obeying His commandments. To remain in His love is to remain in covenant with Him. To disobey Jesus is to be out of covenant relationship with Him. It's that clear and simple and this is why it is crucial that we preach the commandments of Jesus as the doctrine for the church and teach potential disciples from the nations that they to observe these commandments to remain in covenant with the Son of God. 2 John 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds There is a clear warning from the apostle John that those who do not bring the doctrine (INSTRUCTUONS/TEACHINGS) of Christ are to be rejected and not even given greeting nor be allowed in our home. John also says that those who do not abide (remain) in His doctrine (commandments) do not have God nor do they have His Son. This means they are not in covenant with Jehovah God and His Son Jesus. This is why we have a battle cry as Anabaptists, which is "to go" and make disciples of all nations teaching them to observe the commandments of the Davidic King Jesus Christ. Remember the prophet Isaiah said that the islands would wait for the law of Jehovah's elect servant: Isaiah 42:1-4 1 Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry, nor lift up his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed will he not break, and a dimly burning wick will he not quench: he will bring forth justice in truth. 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set justice in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his law.
